Early 20th century Italian pietra dura inlaid oval plaque, a Florentine commesso depicting a floral composition within a footed silvered engraved brass frame. Good condition dating to 1950 circa.
This Italian artwork is a mosaic panel made on a slate support, with marquetry technique which uses highly polished, hand-cut colored semiprecious stones, which are inlay-ed with one another to create a gorgeous perspective picture, using the natural colours of the different stones and marbles. The stones used are exceptionally polished.
This inlaid plaque is of Tuscan Florentine origin and comes from a private collection of Milan.
