Mid-19th Century Italian Marquetry Circular Centre Table from Rolo. Circular marquetry inlaid top raised on a baluster turned support resting on a tripod base with slightly curled feet. This Italian round walnut veneered center tabletop is decorated with parquetry, thin layers of walnut, maple, box, mahogany, cherry and fruitwood contrasting woods used to create inlays of geometric design; the side band is decorated too.
The base has delicate bands of parquetry inlaid into the turned center column and tripod feet with a bottom finial. This table would make a great addition to a variety of settings with it’s balance of detailed complexity and elegant simplicity.
Of Italian origin, probably realized in Rolo, Emilia region, famous for this marquetry processing, it has a beautiful warm color and dates back to the mid-19th century.
It comes from a private thouse of Milan Downtown. Great original patina, material is original of the period, thus shoes signs of age and use, it is in distressed condition, with some veneering detachments, see closed up detailed pictures attached, traces of its 170-year history.
If desired, the craftsmen in our in-house atelier could restore and polish it with shellac.
