Lovely pair of 19th century Baroque style angels, putti sculptures hand-carved in lime wood, of Italian origin, dating back to 1850 circa in overall good condition.
This pair of antique wall-hanging putti figures have a white-ivory color gesso finish, Italian gesso was used by sculptors as painting preparation, it is a white layer between sculpted wood and painting or gold leaf finish. Overall good condition, wear consistent with age and use, minor losses.
The cherubs are expressive in their movement and facial expressions. They show no wings at all and have an iron ring on the back for wall hanging..
