Pair of Large Seven-Light 1700 Crystal Empire Chandeliers from the salon of an old Italian palace, in excellent condition.These large size antique chandeliers, 161 cm high x 95 cm in diameter, born in the last quarter of the 18th century for candle lighting.
They are made with an elegant gilt iron balloon structure composed of circular crowns of various diameters made of brass, richly embossed with floral and fruit motifs and embellished with crystals.
The upper crown is decorated with nine curved, embossed acanthus leaves, the top of which is adorned with a festoon, a chain of crystals and pendants. The upper part is connected with a cascade of oval crystal chains, all original to the period, to a larger diameter crown of brass richly embossed with fruits and plant motifs. Arranged on this crown are seven curved cast arms, also decorated with phytomorphic motifs and connected by crystal garlands. The arms end with a bud enclosing tall custom-made wooden candles and E14 bulbs. The pair of chandeliers is fully functional, they have been restored and electrified according to European standard, for a maximum power of 750 watts total.The lower part is always decorated with a floral patterned embossment and crystal pendants, vertical prisms.
Unusual for this type of antique chandeliers is the repoussé brass finial, the pinecone finial.
